Notes for Anne GREENE
Granddaughter of James Greene, of Deputy-Governor John Greene ("Surgeon") of Salisbury, Eng., 1597, who settled at Warwick, 1642, being the first settler there. (Stukely Westcott, Vol. 1, Pg. 182, 1932)
Notes for Nathan (Spouse 1)
He settled near the farm home of his great-grandfather, the first Stukely, and died and was buried there. His place in 1886 was owned and occupied by descendants of his granddaughter, Celia, who married Christopher Spencer. Nathan was a rope maker by trade. He and his first wife joined the Six Principle Baptist Church in 1736, in which he became a deacon, and thereafter much of his time was passed in preaching and other religious ministrations in Warwick and the adjoining towns. His family Bible, an English edition of 1729, containing a record of his family, was, in 1886, owned by Mrs. George W. Spencer, descendant. He was a man much respected, exerting much influence both in civil and religious affairs. (Stukely Westcott, Vol. 1, Pg. 182, 1932)
