JAMES B. GORDON CALLED BY DEATH AT FRESNO HOME
James B, Gordon, 51, a native of Mariposa, died at his home in Fresno last Tuesday, following a long illness.
Deceased was born and spent the greater part of his life in Mariposa where his father, Peter Gordon, established the Gordon Hotel in the early gold days.
For many years "Jim" Gordon was one of the most efficient stage drivers into Yosemite over the Wawona road before the coming of automobiles. Later he also drove motor stages into the park.
Jim was a man who made many friends and kept them; always kind honest and upright in all of his dealings, and one who bore his sufferings the past few years without complaint.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Fresno, interment being made in Belmont Memorial Park.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie C. Gordon, a son James A. and a daughter, Genevieve, all of Fresno; two brothers, Peter of San Francisco and Will of San Jose and three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Bertken of Mariposa, Mrs. Oscar Breling of Oakland and Mrs. Perry Brown of Fresno.
