JACOB SOUTHWARD DIES AFTER ILLNESS
Funeral services for Jacob Southward, 81, resident of Le Grand for 38 years, were held Wednesday in the Ivers and Alcorn Mission Chapel here with the Rev. Roy E. Badgley officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the Plainsburg Cemetery.
Southward, a native of Colorado, died Tuesday morning in a local hospital after an extended illness. He was a retired rancher.
He was a 50 year member of the Norwood, Colo., lodge of I.O.O.F.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie O. Southward of Le Grand; two sons, Walter Southward of Merced and Earl Southward of Le Grand; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Stickles of Le Grand; two brothers, Tom Southward of Le Grand and Percy Southward of Colorado; a sister, Mrs. Laura Morgan of Colorado, and five grandchildren.
