Sidney Martin Benway, 69, resident of this area most of his life, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday in his home following several months' illness.
The son of Henry and Elizabeth Benway, he was born May 16, 1883, in Belle Plaines, Wis. The family moved to Union Township when he was two years old. Mr. Benway's first wife, died and he was married to [Mrs.] Alice Balch, Milton, Oct. 29, 1927. He was employed as a night watchman at the Grange Store here for 23 years until retiring 2 1/2 years ago.
Surviving are his wife; two daughers, Mrs. Eugene Haskins, state of Oregon, and Mrs. William McClure, Racine; a son, Carl Poppleman, Racine, five stepchildren, Mrs. Harry Cole, Edwin and Erford Balch, Evansville, Mrs. Herman Kutz, Fort Atkinson, and Mrs. Edward Wright, Milton Junction.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Roderick-Ward Funeral Home, the Rev. James Saunders of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Alice Benway, 71, died Sunday, May 15, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Cole, Evansville.
Born May 9, 1884, at Plymouth, the daughter of William and Martha Carpenter Millar, she was married to William Balch Aug 15, 1907, at Milton Junction. He died Jan. 6, 1926. On Oct. 27, 1927, she was married to Sidney Benway, Evansville, who died about two years ago.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church, Milton.
Surviving are two sons, Erford and Edwin Balch, Evansville; four daughters, Hrs. Harry Cole, Evansville; Mrs. Herman Kutz, Fort Atkinson; Mrs. Edward J. Wright, Milton Junction; and Mrs. Gene Haskins, Walworth; one sister, Mrs. Ida Luebke, Milton Junction; four brothers, Henry Millar, Milton Junction; Ralph Millar, Janesville; Leman Millar, Deerfield; and Lewis Millar, Camp Cleghorn, Waupaca, and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17, in the Roderick-Ward funeral home, Evansville, the Rev. James Saunders, Stoughton, officiating. Burial was in Rock River cemetery, Milton Junction route 1.
