He was the youngest son of David Fitchett and Elison Fairbairn. His grandparents were James Fitchett and Elizabeth Young UEL's. Great grandparents were Joseph Fitchett and Sarah Dillea.
Wellington and Bessie Garret were married November 13, 1901 by Rev. Alexander Rannie at the Roslin home of the bride's parents - James Garrett and Helen Hunter. Wellington and Bessie could be described as good citizens, good neighbours and good caring parents. They lived on a 100 acre farm in Huntingdon Township, Concession 1, Lot 16, Hastings County, one mile west of the Hamlet of Roslin.They were members of the Presbyterian Church in Roslin and they are buried in that cemetery.

- Helen Fairbairn Fitchett born August 30, 1902 and passed away September 26, 1981. Married December 27, 1922 to Freeman Arthur Howes, who was born November 11, 1898 and died June 09, 1973.
