Arthur and Annie died in their twenties of pneumonia and complications they developed from colds they had caught while trying to fight the fire that destroyed their barn. The bell in St Paul’s Anglican Church in Roslin was donated in their memory. A stained glass window records the tragic loss of Byron from consumption in his 26th year.
