PROBATE OF THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT Of Silas S. Clark late of Potsdam deceased.
Be it remembered, That heretofore, to wit: on the 5th day of December A.D., 1904 Horace N Clark one of the executors named in the last Will and Testament, of Silas S Clark late of Potsdam in the County of St. Lawrence, deceased, applied to the Surrogate of the County of St. Lawrence to have the said Last Will and Testament which relates to both real and personal estate, proved and recorded; and upon such application the said Surrogate did ascertain by satisfactory evidence, who were the widow heirs at law and next to kin of said deceased testator, and their respective residences, viz: Louisa W Clark, widow, Potsdam, NY Frederick W. Clark, son, Mount Vernon, NY Clara L. Clark, daughter, Potsdam, NY Mary Clark, daughter, Potsdam, NY Horace N. Clark, son, Potsdam, NY Charles M Clark, son, (unable to read town), NY Earl B. Clark, son Potsdam, NY Robert Y. Clark, son Mount Vernon, NY

I, Silas S. Clark, of the town of Potsdam, St. Lawrence Co., NY being of sound mind and disposing mind and memory, do hereby make, declare and publish this my last will and testament in the manner following:
First, after the payment of my just debts I direct my executors hereinafter named to divide all my estate, both real and personal, into twelve equal parts, and to make distribution thereof as follows:

1. I give, devise, and bequeath to my wife Louisa W. Clark, two of such parts, to her and her heirs forever.
2. I give, devise, and bequeath to my daughter, Clara L, Clark, two of such parts, to her and her heirs forever.
3. I give, devise, and bequeath to my daughter, Mary J. Clark, three of such parts, to her and her heirs forever.
4. I give, devise, and bequeath to each of my five sons, Frederick W. Clark, Horace N. Clark, Charles M. Clark, Earl B. Clark and Robert Y. Clark, one of the five remaining shares, giving thereby to each of my five sons one of said shares, to him and his heirs forever.

Second. And it is my will that my executors make no inventory or accounting of my estate. Third. I nominate, constitute and appoint my wife Louisa W. Clark, my daughter Clara L. Clark and my son Horace N. Clark the executors of this my will and I give them full power and authority to mortgage, lease,sell, and convey each and all or any part of my real estate wheresoever situate for such sums or sum, in such manner, and at such time or times, at either at public or private sale, as in their discretion may seem best and to give good and full deeds or instruments of conveyance for the same.
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of Feb. in the year of 1903.

The above instrument consisting of one and one half pages was now here subscribed by Silas S. Clark, the testator, in the presence of both and each of us, and was, at the same time in the presence of both and each of us, declared by him to be his last will and testament; and we, at his request in his presence, and in the presence of each other, sign our names thereto as attesting witnesses. LOUISE WILLES CLARK: OBITUARY, 1-17-1838—-4-20-1918
Louise Willes Clark, widow of the late Silas S. Clark of this town Died at her house at 103 Main Street, Wednesday evening, April 20th.
Mrs. Clark was born January 17, 1838, the daughter of Wilder Willes and Orrenda Kimball Willes. She was the second of four children, the youngest was Harriett Willes Yancey who made her home with Mrs. Clark during her last years.
Mrs. Clark’s childhood was passed in her ancestral home on the farm known as Willes Farm.
In March of 1857, she married Silas S. Clark who was from the town of Madrid, New York and immediately located on her home farm known as Clark’s Farm at Clark’s Crossing on the Norwood Road. Here they reared seven children, all whom are living except the eldest, Fredrick W. Clark, who died five years ago. Those surviving are Clara L. Clark, Mrs. Mary Clark Amos, Horace N. Clark, Earl B. Clark of Potsdam, Charles M. Clark, and Robert Y. Clark of White Plains, New York. Mr. Silas S. Clark,husband of the deceased, died in 1903.
Mrs. Clark acquired a love for the church and its teaching. In early childhood she united with the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Potsdam and was the oldest member at the time of her demise.
She was educated in the schools of her town and at one time taught in them. She completed her education at the Old St. Lawrence Academy. Mrs. Clark was an exemplary homemaker, a friendly neighbor, a loving mother, and a competent adviser.
Funeral was held from the church at 2:30pm, Friday 22 and was buried in the family plot at the cemetery.
