Died Sunday, January 8, 2006, in his home in Reston, VA. Tom was born in Des Plaines, IL, in 1935. He was granted a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia. Tom was an engineer at Newport News Ship Building in Newport News, VA. Following that he was employed by the U.S. Government in the Maritime Administration until he retired in 1994. Tom is survived by his wife, Johanna Vodicka; two sisters, Dagmar Green, Waltham, MA and Ingrid Russell, Madison, WI; two daughters, Clair Vodicka-Taylor, Racine, WI and Frances Ferguson, Nashville, TN; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Daisy. The family has planned an informal gathering to celebrate Tom's life and will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2006, at the Vodicka home at 1323 Westhills Lane, Reston, VA.
