Dr. Marco Bruschi, M.D. passed away Thanksgiving Day with his wife, sister, three children, grandchildren and great grandchild at his bedside.
Dr. Bruschi was born June 11, 1914 in San Diego. He later moved to Spokane where he attended North Central High School. He did his under-graduate work at the University of Washington in Seattle and post-graduate work at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York where he graduated with his degree in medicine in 1943.
He married Bertha Estelle Hill in 1943 and fathered Barbara Ann in 1944. He enlisted into the Army and served in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1946. He completed his residencies in 1949 in internal medicine and chest at Methodist Hospital and Bellevue Hospital in New York.
In 1949 he fathered Marco Wesley and moved to Bakersfield and opened Clinicians Medical Group with Dr. John Almklov. In 1952 he fathered Richard Edwin.
Dr. Bruschi was a member of The American College of Chest Physicians, The American society of Internal Medicine, The American Medical Association, The California Medical Society, and the Kern Medical Society. He was honored by The Kern Medical society in 1989 for his dedicated service to his patients, the community and to The Kern Medical Society. He was Chief of Medicine and chief of Staff at Mercy Hospital. He wrote, produced and directed a paper and award winning film on valley fever, which can still be found in medical school libraries across the nation.
Dr. Bruschi was past president of the Bakersfield Exchange Club, the American Lung Association of Kern County, Community Theater and Kern County Mental Health Society. He was a member of East Bakersfield Rotary (Rotarian of the year), Paul Harris Fellow Rotary International and St. John's Lutheran Church. He served on the Kern County Grand Jury in 1989.
Dr. Bruschi practiced private medicine until 1979 and then worked with the Kern County Public Health Department from 1980 to 1987 as an Assistant Public Health Officer.
His hobbies included cinematography, photography, family vacations and farming. He produced a film on pistachios and was one of the pioneers in the field in California. He was an avid student of medicine and stayed abreast of current technologies through constant reading and periodically attending Harvard during the summers.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bertha; sister Louise Holmes; children, Barbara Faessel, Marco and Richard Bruschi; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 912 New Stine Road, Saturday, December 11, 1999 at 11 a.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to St. John's or a charity of choice.83

Dr. Bruschi passed away at age 85, Thanksgiving Day. At his bedside were his wife, children, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchild and sister.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bertha; children, Barbara Faessel, Marco W. Bruschi, Richard E. Bruschi and his wife Janet Bauer Bruschi; grandchildren, Amy Faessel Dahl, James Dahl, Matthew Faessel, Mark Faessel, Laura Bruschi, Anne Bruschi, Marco Seth Bruschi, Zachary Bruschi; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Dahl; sister Louise Holmes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.83
