Marriage Record, Page 143, "New England Marriages Prior to 1700" by Clarence Almon Torrey, Published 1985 by Genealogical Publishing Company Inc., Baltimore, MD. They also give the husband's and wife's birth and death years. Her last name is listed as "Babcock/Badcock" and we have chosen to use Babcock as being the more common.

Mary Babcock, fourth child of James, Sr., and Sarah Badcock, b. Portsmouth, RI, 1648 (?); died Westerly, 1747; m. Capt. William Champlin, son of Jeffrey Champlin, b. Rhode Island, 1654, died 1715.
The following was copied from the will of her father, James Badcock, Sr.: "He bequeathed one cow to be delivered unto his daughter, Mary Champlin."
William Champlin was Justice of the Peace for Westerly; he was also Deputy for Westerly, he was also Deputy for Westerly at the General Assembly, 1690, '91, '96, '98, '99, 1700, '03, '05, '06,'08, '10, '12. At a town meeting held Apr. 7, 1709, he was"voted to have a grant of one hundred acres" of land, and was empowered to agree with Ninecraft, sachem, for "a perpetual high road to the salt water from Queen's Rhoade."
