His will was made on 19 Aug 1777 and proved in June of 1782 in Richmond Co. NC.

There are several references to him among the records of Lunneburg Co. VA. He is included on two lists of tithables taken during the years 1749 and 1750, where he is indicated as either a guardian or employer for Thomas and Richard Shockley, who presumably were related to his wife, Amy SHOCKLEY.310
