Co-owned Martucci's Tavern with her husband
Mildred Jean Fickenworth "Sis" or "Sister" Gunther, 65, 136 Cypress St., died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Saint Vincent Health Center.
She was born Dec. 5, 1932, in Erie, daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Jean Ziacik Fickenworth.
Mrs. Gunther and her husband, Robert, were co-owners of Martucci's
Tavern. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Robert Gunther, in 1975; a sister, Dorothy McKerinan; and two brothers, Henry Kutterna and Daniel Fickenworth.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert W. Gunther; two daughters, Kathi Gunther of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Mrs. Michael (Michelle) Chin of Fairview; a son, Robert W. Gunther II of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Nikki and Jonathan Gunther, David McConnell and James Gunther Chin; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Dorothy)
Chapman and Mrs. James (Suzanne) Ames, both of Erie, and Mary Richardson of Buffalo, N.Y.; five brothers, Harry Fickenworth of Las Vegas, Nev., and his wife Ruby, Joseph Fickenworth and his wife Carol, Johnny Fickenworth and his wife Thelma, Raymond Fickenworth and his wife Rita, and William Fickenworth, all of Erie.
Friends may call at Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, West 25th and Sassafras streets, today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend a service there Saturday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Jerrold Caughlan, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
