George Fred Clark (aka G. Fred Clark) was a self-educated public school teacher and a friend of Jack London, the author. G. Fred worked as a longshoreman at the Port of Oakland as a young man, to earn money to put his 2 younger siblings through school. While working at the Port of Oakland, he self-studied and passed the public school teacher's exam. It was around this timeframe that he met and became friends with Jack London, the author. Later in life, G. Fred retired from teaching school and became an insurance salesman. His last residence was Alameda, California.324
