Notes for Charles (Spouse 1)
"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 13, No 32, p 127, Jan. 15, 1857.
In Southampton, Peoria Co., Ill., December 27th, of consumption, Charles Saunders, aged 78 years. He was born in Rhode Island, and in early life removed to Berlin, Rensselaer Co., N. Y., where a few years after, he embraced religion and united with the Seventh-day Baptist Church of that place of which he remained a member until death. He has for many years been looking for the time of "his change to come," and has often expressed wonder that he was permitted to live from year to year. During the last hours of his life, on being asked how the prospect looked before him, he said, "I live by the faith of the Son of God, and trust in the Mercy of God." Thus he could calmly look death in the face, and feel it a welcome messenger to take him from this world of trial and suffering, to enjoy the smiles of his Saviour in heaven. J. C. R.

Crandall: This family had to be constructed from the Greene genealogy, the Rogers Genealogy, and a list of children in the Vars genealogy, compiled by Howard A. Vars in 1971.
