Fern (Barber) Maxson 1889-1968

  Mrs. Fern Maxson, a native of the North Loup community, died Feb. 16 at the Valley County Hospital, after a long illness.   She was 78 years old.
  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church with the Rev. Duane L. Davis officiating.   The choir and congregation sang “I Know Whom I Have Believed”, “Tarry With Me” and “Abide With Me.”   Mrs. Louise Brennick was the organist and Mrs. Jeneane Abel the choir director.   Interment was in the North Loup Hillside Cemetery.   The Hastings-Pearson Mortuary had charge of arrangements.   Pallbearers were George Clement, Aubrey Davis, Cecil Severance and Vernon Williams.
  Mrs. Maxson was born May 8, 1889 to Charles W. and Louisa Davis Barber.   She was a graduate of the North Loup High School, class of 1905, attended Milton College at Milton, Wis. and taught school for several years.   She and George S. Maxson were married Aug. 9, 1919 at North Loup.   He died in 1954.   She had been a member of the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church since June of 1900.   Her entire life was lived in the North Loup vicinity.
  Survivors are one son, George, Jr. of North Loup; one daughter, Mrs. Marion Brannon of Freeville, N. Y.; one brother, Dell Barber of North Loup and four grandchildren.   Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Douglas Barber.
