Nellie Bird (Crandall) Coon 1879-1927

Mrs. Floyd T. Coon, daughter of Henry F. and Lucinda Cottrell Crandall, was born in Denison, Iowa, September 26, 1879, and died at her home in Riverside, Calif., May 11, 1927, aged 47 years, 7 months and 15 days.
At the age of three years, she moved with her parents to North Loup, Neb., which place was her home for 9 years. It was while living here that she was baptized and joined the Seventh Day Baptist church.
In the fall of 1891, the family moved to Beauregard, Miss., where they remained until March of the next year when they moved to Farina, Ill. She attended the public schools at this place and graduated from high school in 1897.
In the fall of 1899, she came to Milton and entered college her parents moving there the following spring.
On Nov 1, 1900, she was married to Floyd T. Coon of Milton. To this union were born two children, both of who have preceded her in death.
She and her husband made their home in Milton until August 1923, when they moved to Riverside, Calif., which place was her home at the time of her death.
Since the death of her sister, Mrs. Louis Hurley, in 1922, she has had Roberta Hurley, youngest daughter, in her home and has given her the care and devotion of a real mother.
She was a faithful attendant at church and Sabbath school and while living in Milton she was a member of Circle No. 3, the W. V. I. club and the King's Daughters, where she was an efficient worker and endeared herself to the members of each by her kind and unselfish ways.
Besides her husband she is survived by three brothers, Wilmer H., Fred A. and Harry B., all of whom live in Milton.
A farewell service, conducted by Pastor G. D. Hargis, was held at Riverside on Friday afternoon, May 13. Mr. Coon and Roberta came with the body to Milton, arriving on Tuesday, May 17. A farewell service was held from the Milton church on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Pastor James L. Skaggs and Rev. Edwin Shaw. The organist - and male quartet furnished appropriate music. The body was laid to rest in the Milton cemetery.

Margaret Fanny Davis, daughter of S. Albino and Ethel Davis, was born in Albion, Wis., September 29, 1909, and died at Riverside, Calif., January 8, 1945.
With her parents she moved to Rhinelander, Wis., in 1914, where she received her schooling. In 1929 the family moved to Riverside where she has since resided. She was baptized and united with the Seventh Day Baptist Church of Riverside in 1930, being a joyful and active worker, especially with younger people. November 18, 1935, she was married to Floyd T. Coon whose interest in nature she shared to the full. They collected many rare specimens of rocks and flowers in their trips to the mountains and deserts.
Surviving are the husband; her parents; a brother, Ben W. Davis; and an aged grandmother, Mrs. Lida Jeffrey. All reside at Riverside.
Rev. E. S. Ballenger assisted in the memorial service with her pastor, Loyal F. Hurley. Burial was in Olivewood.
