The remains of Mrs. Juliette Crandall Davis were interred by the side of her husband, Niles Davis, in the Milton cemetery, Tuesday forenoon, the 5th inst. They were brought by her son, Morton E. Davis, from Brooklyn, N. Y., at whose residence, 58 Eighth Avenue, of that city, she died last Friday evening from the effects of bronchial pneumonia. The principal services were held the following evening at that same place. The exercises at the grave were in charge of President Whitford, of the College, who had known her since her young womanhood. The singing was furnished by the college quartet, composed of Edgar D. Van Horn, L. Arthur Platts, Jesse E. Hutchins, and Byron W. Rood. Two children of Mr. Davis were present, M. Eugene Davis and Miss Susie B. Davis [M. Eugene's daughter], the latter coming from Shawno to be in attendance. Nephews of her husband and other relatives, most of them residing in Milton, were present. The deceased was born Sept. 14, 1820, in South Brookfield, Madison Co., N. Y., and consequently was at her death 80 years, 4 months, and 17 days old. Her parents were Saunders and Polly Maxson Crandall. she was married in the early forties, and lived near her childhood's home until her removal with her husband and son to Wisconsin in 1856. To them were born two children, the elder, Byron Eugene, dying at seven years of age. Her husband departed this life at Milton, Aug. 20, 1898. Since then she has lived with her son who has carefully contributed to her comfort. She professed Christ in her youth, and retained her membership at last with the Leonardsville, Madison county, N. Y. She cherished a deep interest in her immediate relatives.
