BERLIN -- Gilbert Cave, 95, of Southeast Hollow Road, died on Friday, July 23, 2004 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Irma; a son, Charles L. Cave of Berlin; a brother, Harry of Lakeland, Fla; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two children, Marquita E. Jones and Robert J. Cave along with siblings, Neva Pearson, John and Robert Cave, Edna Harris and Edith Cave. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh. Interment will follow in the Berlin Baptist Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin Rescue Squad.

BERLIN - Irma Irene Goodermote Cave, 90, formerly of Southeast Hollow Road, died on Monday evening at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT.

A lifelong resident of Berlin, Irma was born there on January 9, 1917, to Charles E. and Wealthy J. Wescott Goodermote.
She met the love of her life, Gilbert, and married him at home on May 21, 1932. They enjoyed 72 years of love and happiness until his passing on July 23, 2004.
Mrs. Cave attended Berlin schools. She worked as a telephone operator for Taconic Telephone Co. in Berlin, at W.J. Cowee Co. Inc and in the custodial department of Hudson Valley Community College, where she retired in 1979.
She was a member of the Berlin Rescue Squad, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department and was on the town of Berlin Election Board.
She is survived by her son Charles L. Cave of Berlin; her sister Bessie Geerholt of West Stephentown; along with nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Marquita E. Jones, son Robert J. Cave and siblings Clara Jones, Blanche Jones, Beatrice Maxon, Jessie Goodermote and Arthur Goodermote.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road in Petersburgh with Rev. Robert Rabb officiating. Interment will follow in the Berlin Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. for visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin Rescue Squad in loving memory of Irma Cave.
