Notes for William (Spouse 1)
Born in Westerly RI, April 15, 1708, and died there Jan. 15, 1751. He served as town clerk upon the resignation of his father, and continued to hold that office to the time of his death, about twenty years. He was a freeman in 1735, and justice of the peace, and it is presumed that he was the William Babcock that represented Westerly in the General Assembly of RI in 1744. He was a farmer and left a will dated Jan. 4, 1751, eleven days before his death. He was married at Seabrook, now Saybrook, CT, August 11, 1730, by Rev. Hezekiah Mather, to Sarah Denison, who was born in Stonington, CT., January 6, 1710, reared at Saybrook CT., eldest child of Samuel and Mary(Lay-Minor) Denison, and great-graddaughter of Captain George Denison, who was youngest son of William and Margaret Chandler (Monck) Denison.157
