Lois Rice, 85, of Parkview Terrace Apartments, lifelong Milton resident, died Monday, Oct. 15, at Mercy Hospital following a short illness.
She was born April 1 1894, the daughter of William and Alice Griswold Crandall and married Ivan E. Rice July 26, 1917 in Milton. He died in 1967.
She was a former member of the Milton Grange, Rebecca Lodge, Women's Circle, U.M.W., and Service Star Legion. She was also a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Ivan K., Milton; a daughter, Mrs. George Gilman, Janesville; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Rice, Milton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Faith United Methodist Church, Milton, with Rev. Virgil Holmes officiating. Burial was in Milton Cemetery. A memorial has been established.

Ivan E. Rice, 74, Milton Junction, well known citizen and former businessman, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Oct. 12, in his home at 9 S. Second Street.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Faith United Methodist Church, Milton Junction, the Rev. Richard C. Jones officiating. Burial was in the Milton Cemetery with Gordon Rice, William Cunningham Jr., Westly Stockman, Howard Trescher, Robert Knott and Owen Haugom as pallbearers. Albrecht Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Rice was associated with Badgerland Co-op from 1935 until joining the Larsen Canning Co., Fort Atkinson, as a field man in 1947. For many years he was also in partnership with his son, Ivan K. Rice, in the contracting business. He retired in 1960.
Born May 16, 1893, in Harmony Township. The son of Clarence and Flora Saxe Rice, he was married to Lois Crandall July 26, 1917, in the home of the bride’s parents, William C. and Alice Griswold Crandall. The couple resided on a farm south of Milton until 1935. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in July, 1967.
Mr. Rice was a member of Faith Methodist Church, and had been active in the Pomona and State Grange and the Milton IOOF Lodge.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Ivan K., Milton Junction; a daughter, Mrs. George (Beverly) Gilman, Janesville; six grandchildren; a brother, Roland, Fort Atkinson; two sisters, Mrs. G. G. Daniels, Tacoma Park, Md., and Mrs. W. D. Chesney of Janesville.

Cause of death: Acute coronary occlusion
