Gertrude D. Williams, 84, of Milton, died Saturday morning, May 6, 2000, at Mercy Health System, Janesville.
She was born Sept. 24, 1915 in Milton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Grant and Charlotte (Crumb) Davis. She was Baptized May 3, 1929 in the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church and joined the church the following day. She graduated from Milton Union High School and Milton College. For a short time she worked for two grocery stores, Soergels and then Moyer's. From 1939-44 she was employed in the engineering department of Parker Pen in Janesville. She married Charles H. Williams of Albion on Nov. 23, 1944 in the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. They moved to his family homestead in Albion. Gertrude joined the Albion Seventh Day Baptist Church. She was president of the Home Benefit Society, member of the Albion Civics Club and Milton College Choral Union. In the 1950s she was employed in the engineering department at Highway Trailer of Edgerton. From 1961-63 she worked for Mitbon and Holman Insurance Agency in Edgerton. In 1963 the family moved to Milton where she was employed by the Milton School District for 21 years. She was a member of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, financial secretary of the church, president of the Afternoon Women's Circle, secretary of the Women's Circle, member of the Eutharsos Class, teacher in the primary Sabbath school, member of the Milton Historical Society and Business and Professional Women's Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Williams of Milton; a son Rollin (Phyllis) Williams of Matthews, North Carolina; a grandson Marc Williams of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and a sister-in-law Mary Stewart of Racine. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Charles H. Williams.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. Burial was in Milton Cemetery. Albrecht Funeral Home assisted the family.

Charles H. Williams, 82, of 428 Green Hill Drive, passed away Friday, June 28, 1991 after a long illness. He was born January 18, 1909 at Albion, Wisconsin, the son of E. Glenn and Matie (Head) Williams.
He married Gertrude Davis of Milton on Nov. 23, 1944.
He was baptized in June 1923 and joined the Albion Seventh Day Baptist Church, where he later became a deacon. He remained a member there until moving to Milton in 1963 where he became a member and deacon in the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church.
He graduated from Edgerton High school and attended the University of Wisconsin Agricultural Short Course. He was engaged in the 100 year-old Williams' family farming business, raising purebred Jersey dairy cattle. He was a member of the Rock County Jersey Breeders Association. He was also the leader of the Albion Township 4-H Club for several years.
After moving to Milton, he became custodian of various elementary schools in the Milton School District. He was a member of the Milton Seventh Day Men's Fellowship, Milton Kiwanis Club and Milton Historical Society.
He is survived my his wife, Gertrude, a son Rollin (Phyllis) Williams, Roanoke, Virginia; a daughter Ann Williams of Madison; a grandson Marc of Roanoke, Virginia; two sisters, Gleneta Williams of Milton and Mary (Hugh) Stewart of Racine.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 2, 1991, at the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church. Burial was in Milton Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
