Elwood L. Gray, 68, 248 Hilltop Dr., long-time area resident, died Wednesday morning, March 2, in Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 14, 1908, in Beloit and lived in the Milton vicinity most of his life. He married the former Marian Scholl Sept. 20, 1929.
Mr. Gray was employed by Highway Industries for 29 years before retiring in 1971.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Steil, Kendall, Wis.; a son, Ellwood Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marion of Monticello, Walter, Edgerton, and Merton, Milton; two sisters, Eleanor Knight, Rockford, and Genevieve Hesselman, Edgerton.
Two brothers, Charles and Clarence, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Mar. 4, at Albrecht Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Holmes officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Marian Hope Gray, 82, of 248 Hilltop, Milton, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 15, at home.
Born August 31, 1903, in Richland County, the former Marian School married Elwood Gray. He died March 2, 1977. She was a Milton resident most of her life and taught at the Newville School and other area schools.
Surviving are a son, Elwood Jr., of Montana; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 18, in the Albrecht Funeral Home-Milton, with burial in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
