Mrs. Walter B. Cockerill, 76, passed away at Edgerton Memorial Hospital on Saturday evening, June 21, after a short illness.
Clara Josephine, the eldest daughter of Charles W. and Rosalie Ball Fox, was born on November 1, 1881, at Johnstown Center, on the farm now owned by John Reid.
She attended the public schools of Fort Atkinson and Milton Junction graduating from the old High School in Milton Junction. Later she took the Normal school course of instruction at Whitewater and taught at Hartland for five years, also at Otter Creek and in the Paul and Bingham schools.
In 1917 she married Walter B. Cockerill of Berlin, and resided on the home farm near that city for twenty-five years. In 1943 she returned to Milton Junction to make her home until her death.
Mrs. Cockerill was a member of the Milton Junction Seventh Day Baptist Church, its Ladies Aid Society, and of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Mrs. Cockerill is survived by her husband; one sister, Mrs. Chester Herrington of Milton Junction; and numerous nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Mrs. Fred Gray and Mrs. Louis Emerson preceded her in death.
Services were held on Tuesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at the Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton Junction. The Rev. Victor W. Skaggs officiated and burial was in Milton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Louis Sunby, Clifford Janke, Jess Babcock, Clinton Green, Leland Shaw and Clark Todd.

Walter B. Cockerill, 98, died Wednesday at Rock Haven.
He was born April 12, 1886, in Germany and came to the United States at a young age. [Actually born at Berlin, WI.] He did missionary work in China and later retired from farming near Berlin. He married Clara Fox, who died in 1958. He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Albrecht Funeral Home Milton, with burial in Milton Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
