Mrs. James Churchill, 71, of 940 Sharon Road, died Sunday morning at Caravilla Retirement Home following a long illness.
The former Ruth Gray was born March 9, 1907, in Milton, and married James Churchill on June 21, 1924, in Rockford. He died in 1962. She attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of its Faith Circle.
Surviving are three sons, Richard and James, both of Janesville, and Bruce of Route 3. Janesville; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Gray of Stoughton, and Harry Gray of Janesville; and two sisters, Josephine Gray of Janesville, and Mrs. Adelaide Sanford of Liemington, Ont., Canada.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Schneider Funeral Home with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.

James E. Churchill, 57, 940 Sharon Road died unexpectedly at 10:15 p.m. Friday in Mercy Hospital. For a number of years he had operated Churchill Welding and Repair Service and Churchill Sand and Gravel Co. on Sharon Road.
Born near Hanover April 22, 1904, he was the son of William E. and Martha McDonald Churchill. He married Ruth Gray in Rockford June 22, 1924. Mr. Churchill was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, James, Jr., Richard and Bruce, all of Janesville; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hensel, Janesville, Mrs. Violet Jackson and Mrs. Clara Nightengale, both of Milwaukee. A brother, Donald Churchill, and a sister, Mrs. Edna Balsley, preceded him in death as well as a half-sister, Mrs. Gladys Cullem.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Reining Funeral Home, the Rev. Donald Evans, First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.
