Don A. Borden, who had been a patient in the Veterans hospital at Wood several weeks, died there Feb. 1st. Funeral services were held in the Milton Congregational church Saturday afternoon, Rev. R. W. Newell officiating and Kenneth Babcock singing. Burial was in Milton cemetery, pallbearers being Chas. H. Anderson, Wm. D. Burdick, A. G. Holmes, S. C. Hull, Wm. Lauer and F. E. Wendt, all legionnaires.
Among the relatives and friends attending were: Don a. Borden, Boca Raton, Fla.; Mary Ann Borden, Wm. Borden and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Farnsworth, Mrs. Frank Woodbury, Mrs. Paul Lemmel and daughter, Miss Alice Thorngate, Robert Gray and Joan Gray, all of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Borden and daughter, Mr.and Mrs. Robt. Lamb, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Cleland and John Holmes, all of Milwaukee; and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walker, Pewaukee.
Don A., son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Borden, was born Nov. 3, 1892, in Milton. He was a graduate of the old Milton high school and of Beloit college and served with the army in France in World War I. On Oct. 9, 1924, he married Bessie Crandall, who died in 1940.
He was chief of the Milton fire department for several years. He had been a tobacco buyer, later clerk in the Milton post office, and more recently had taught radio at Truax field, Madison, and Chanute Field, Ill.
Survivors are a son, Don Jr., in army air force, training at Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Ann, who is attending school in Madison; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Uphoff, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Robert Lamb, Milwaukee, and a brother Clarke, Milwaukee.
