Dr. George Wayland Coon, 88, former Milton physician, died May 29 in Corona del Mar, Calif. He had served as a physician here with his father, George Coon Sr., from 1922 to 1932.
Dr. Coon was born here, was a graduate of Milton Junction High School and had attended Milton College before transferring to UW-Madison. He completed his education at Rush Medical College in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; eight children, Hallie J. Hansen, Geraldine Ihlie, Jannette Younglove, Mary H. Johnson, George W. Coon Jr., Kendall Seamans, Sally Loats and Margo Dutton; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
After retirement from his practice in Riverside, Calif., the Coons moved to their home in Corona del Mar where they lived the past 26 years.
Dr. Coon was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a past president of Riverside County Medical Assn., Newport Harbor Yacht Club, Kiwanis and Newport Harbor Lawn Bowling Club.
Private family services were held June 1 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach, Calif.
They live 1932 in Riverside, Calif., where he is a practicising physician.
