Dexter Gray, prominent farmer of Rock county, was born Aug. 24, 1860, at Johnstown, Wis., youngest of nine children of Nathaniel and Alvira Kent Gray, and passed away Oct. 2, 1931, at his home in Milton, at the age of 71 years.
His entire life with the exception of the past few years, was spent on the farm on which he was born. He was widely and favorably known having been active in town and county affairs.
Mr. Gray was twice married. On Feb. 17, 1885, he married Miss Ida Hadley, who died in 1891. Their one daughter, Agnes, died at the age of five years. On Mar. 5, 1895, he married Miss Mertie Banks at Detroit, Mich., who with the three children, Robert of Milton, Leila of Beloit and Dorris of Fort Atkinson, two grandchildren and one sister, Miss Elizabeth Gray, Milton, survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Milton Congregational church, Rev. D. Q. Grabill officiating, with burial in the North Johnstown cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carl Newton, Earl Newton, Elmer Bingham, George Bacon, Will Waterman and Edward Wilcox.
