Edgerton - Honored Tuesday night when she and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the Methodist church, Mrs. John Scarcliff, 73, died of a heart attack in her home at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
A hundred friends and relatives had gathered for the anniversary celebration Tuesday night. They presented a program of musical numbers and short talks and Mr. and Mrs. Scarcliff were re-married buy the Rev. Guy Wilkinson, who Friday will officiate at her funeral. Guests were present from Stoughton, Madison, Janesville, Boscobel, and Chicago.
Mrs. Scarcliff, the former Louise Bentley, was born in Albion July 3, 1861, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Bentley. Fifty years ago on Jan. 1 she was married to John Scarcliff. Before moving to a farm at Indian Ford he had operated a meat market in Edgerton for several years after their marriage. Many years ago they moved to Edgerton again.
Two children preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and a granddaughter, Mrs. Donald Baum, Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Tellefson funeral home and at 2 in the Methodist church. The Rev. Guy Wilkinson will officiate and burial will be in Fassett cemetery.
