Amos was a Lieutenant Colonel in the 8th Regiment, Horse and Foot, of Colony of Connecticut in New England. His commission from Governor William Pitkins, dated June 8, 1768, was in the possession of his descendant, Gideon Perry Chesebrough of Westerly, Rhode Island, ca 1903.
