Ross C. Coon, 76, retired Milton businessman, died Sunday morning in Natchez, Miss., after a brief illness. He and Mrs. Coon were visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Place.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church, the Rev. Elmo Fitz Randolph officiating.
The son of George W. and May Adelle Coon, he was born April 22, 1883, at Utica. He attended Milton College.
Mr. Coon operated a general insurance business here and was active in civic affairs. He held offices in the Odd Fellows Lodge and was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Maude Whittet; a son, Grant W., of Palo Alto, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Place, of Natchez.
