Henry Babcock, 79, died early last Thursday in his home at Milton following an illness of six months. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Albrecht funeral home, the Rev. Fred Babcock, Land O' Lakes, officiating. Miss Betty Daland presided at the organ and accompanied Kenneth Babcock when he sang two hymns. Burial was in Albion cemetery, pallbearers being C. A. Nelson, Henry Ochs, Archie Hurley, Clark Todd, Kenneth Ochs and Floyd Vincent.
The son of Charles I. and Clarissa J. Babcock, Henry was born July 24, 1876, at Albion. He attended the public schools and Albion Academy. In 1905 he went to New Auburn where he built a home. On Dec. 30, 1911, he married Maude Coon. He and his family moved to southern Wisconsin and at one time he was employed at the Burdick Cabinet company, Milton.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Durwood Babcock of Hanover and Leonard Babcock of Haverstraw, N. Y.; three daughters, Evelyn Mishleau of Whitewater, Grace Dickinson and Ruby Skelly of Janesville; 16 grandchildren; a sister Lillian Babcock and a brother Rev. Fred Babcock, both of Land O' Lakes.

Mrs. Henry Babcock, Milton, was instantly killed Friday morning, Sept. 12. (two days after her 67th birthday) in a two car crash on Hy. 13 about 1 1/2 miles from Orfordville. She and her sister, Mrs. Glyde Tuttle, 52, Beloit, had started for Bruce to visit relatives. Mrs. Tuttle, who was driving, is in critical condition in Beloit Hospital - both legs broken in three places and mangled, and her left elbow broken.
Richard Dooley, 29, Lisle, Ill., suffered left leg fracture, head lacerations and possible internal injuries. His wife, 29, suffered crushing chest injuries and abdominal injuries. Their 3-year-old son, Richard, was seated between his parents and was injured least of all. Mrs. Dooley's mother, Mrs. Myrtle Delaney, 66, also from Lisle, suffered, head, left ankle and possible internal injuries. All were taken to Beloit Hospital.
The accident occurred on a curve at the crest of a hill. The Dooley party was headed towards Beloit and the crash is reported to have taken place in their lane.
Maude Coon, daughter of Durwood and Nettie Hall Coon, was born Sept. 10, 1891, at New Auburn, Minn. Her marriage to Henry Babcock on Dec.31, 1911, was the first wedding in the New Auburn (Wis.) Seventh Day Baptist church. In 1932 they moved to Milton where Mr. Babcock died in December 1955.
Mrs. Babcock was a member of the Church of God, Seventh Day, New Auburn, Wis. She was active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the King's Daughters in Milton.
Survivors are two sons, Durwood of Hanover and Leonard of Haverstraw, N. Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Mishleau, Mrs. Grace Dickinson and Mrs. Ruby Skelly, Janesville; 17 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Beryl (Luella) Whitford, Berrien Springs, Mich., and Mrs. Tuttle.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Milton Seventh Day Baptist church the Rev. Elmo F. Randolph officiating. Ivan FitzRandolph gave the song service and Miss Betty Daland was at the organ.
Burial was in Albion Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Ochs, William Arthur, Byron Rood, Henry Ochs, Clark Todd and Homer Hess.
