Sidney E. Pierce 1860-1952

Sidney Pierce, 92, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, in Mercy hospital, Janesville, after an illness of several weeks.
He was born at Wautoma, Wis., Aug. 17, 1860, the son of Thomas Lee and Emily Monroe Pierce. After the death of his mother he came to Milton Junction in 1876. Twelve years later he was married to Olive Craig, Milton. His entire life was spent in the vicinity of Milton and Milton Junction as a farmer.
He is survived by a daughter, Josephine Pierce Mulqueeny, Milton, with whom he has made his home; a granddaughter, Josephine B. Sanguinet, St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Elsie Pierce Story and Alta Pierce Sanguinet; two sisters, Josephine Pierce Warner and Nettie Pierce Bauer; and six brothers, Duane, Mortimer, Everett, Arthur, Charles and Hanson.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Phelps funeral home, Milton. The Rev. Elmo Fitz Randolph officiated.
Pallbearers were Carr Kumlien, Charles Burhans, Frank McBride and Phil Bauer.
Burial was in the Milton Junction cemetery.
