She had a daughter (Elizabeth Gardiner) by her first husband. She married her third husband William Tanner in 1722.

The will of John Cottrell was proved in April 1721. Executors-son John and wife Elizabeth. Overseer Nicholas Cottrell of Westerly (nephew). "To wife Elizabeth a third of movables; to daughter in law (stepdaughter) Elizabeth--- a feather bed, mard and chair; to two daughters rest of movables (viz Mary and Hannah Cottrell); to son John other estate "Inventorey 166 pounds, 15 shillings. (1721 Probate Record Books 6 p. 27 of N. Kingston).
