Deceased Name: Benjamin Etheridge Jr.
Benjamin F. Etheridge Jr., 93, died Wednesday (Sept. 1, 2010) at his daughter's residence in Hosford, Fla., after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 27, 1917 in Lee County, Ala., to the late Benjamin Franklin Etheridge Sr. and Annie Rebecca Nunn Etheridge.
He graduated fromWaycross High School in 1933 where he was elected the senior class president.
After graduation he worked for the Waycross Journal-Herald. In 1935, he was employed at the Commercial Bank and later the First National Bank. In 1939, he began a 20-year employment with King Brothers Motor Co.
In 1940 he married Irene Dempsey, from Athens. She taught home economics atWaycross High School andWacona.
In 1960 he moved to Cocoa, Fla., for five years to work with the Ford dealership in that area. In 1965 he moved to Marietta where he purchased an interest in the Ford dealership and served as vicepresident and general manager. Upon retirement in 1982, he moved back to Waycross. His wife, Irene died in 1987.
In 1988, he married Jackie R. Stewart from Marietta, who passed away in March of this year.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on many committees throughout the years. He was the last surviving member of the building committee which built the present Trinity United Methodist Church on Church Street.
He is survived by one daughter, Becky Brown (husband Joe Brown), of Hosford, Fla.; two granddaughters, Ivy Harger (husband Lloyd Harger) and Andrea Birbahadur; and four great-grandchildren, Ben Harger, Lauren Harger, Alex Birbahadur and Becca Birbahadur. He and Jackie also have four sons from her previous marriage, Tommy Stewart (wife Linda), of Austell, Steve Stewart (wife Beverly), of Powder Springs, Michael Stewart (wife Lucy), of Douglasville, Mark Stewart, of Powder Springs, and their children and grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

A funeral for Benjamin Franklin Etheridge Jr. (93) was held Saturday afternoon in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. F. J. Beverly and the Rev. Ashley Corbett officiating.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
