Notes for Elizabeth “Betsey” ALLEN
Census: 1880 Alfred, Allegany Co., New York: age 81

Betsy's sister, Martha Allen, married Bradford's brother George.
Notes for Bradord (Spouse 1)
Bradford married Betsey Allen on 3/4/1819 at the First Hopkinton seventh Day Baptist church ( Elder Matthew Stillman performed the service).
Bradford first came to Alfred in 1822 and worked. He returned to RI to get his family. He and brother George walked to Alfred with their families in 1827 to join other members of their sect in forming a Seventh Day Baptist Colony. Bradford worked as labor (farming). Bradford took up 100 acres and lived to an old age in town. Bradford's son, Green Champlin, was still a resident of Alfred at the time the "Centennial Memorial History" was written.
George and Bradford married sisters (Allen).
Bradford died August 9, 1870, and his tombstone at Alfred Rural Cemetery indicates he was 79 years old, which means he was born in 1891. Some researchers show him being born in 1898. His obituary in the "Sabbath Recorder" of 9/1/1870 said: "Mr. Champlin had been infirm for several years, his health gradually failing, until death released him from his sufferings.....He made a profession of religion some 42 years since, and died with a firm trust in the Savior".
