"Jesse's father and mother Alonzo Hutchins and Rosetta Weed Hutchins moved a lot with the Church. They lived in Walker, Iowa in 1881, then to North Loop Nebraska in 1884. As far as when Jesse arrived in Milton and how long he attend Milton College is a good question. I do know that he worked his way thru college on his own sawing wood, building fires, sweeping rooms, pulling weeds, driving nails, any honest work for his support. It may have taken him longer to get thru college since he was on his own. He is in either Nebraska or Milton. I'm not really sure where he lived while in college. The 1900 Census should verify where he lived. It is a possiblity that he could have been in Milton in 1898 he would have be age 21 that year. You would think the college would have enrollment dates. I thought Jesse had two degress from Milton College. Year books may verify his attendance."

Jesse Hutchins' degree from Milton College is written in latin. His degree says "Artibus Magistri" and dated in latin as "ante diem XV Kalendas Julias" Anno Domini millesimo nongentesimo nono".
