A funeral for Nadiene B. Chadbourne, 69, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Friday in Grace Episcopal Church. The Rev. David Cavanaugh will officiate. Burial will be private in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Chadbourne died Feb. 11, 2001, in NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.
Born Dec. 16, 1931, in Fresno, she lived in Fairfield 40 years. She worked as an elementary school teacher for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District for 25 years. She was a native Californian and career educator. She taught in Puerto Rico, Maine, New Mexico and finished her teaching career in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District.
In her youth, Mrs. Chadbourne traveled extensively in the United States and Europe while her father served in the U.S. Air Force. A major supporter of the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts, she served as a docent and was a member of the North Bay Opera Guild. Her community service extended to volunteer service at City Hall for the city of Fairfield and she was recognized for her friendly, positive attitude in serving visitors to City Hall.
She was active in professional organizations, including membership in Philanthropic Education Organization, Chapter RR, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society. Other community service includes membership in NorthBay Hospital Guild and her work on the vestry of Grace Episcopal Church.
She was an active member of the Fairfield Visual Arts Association, and assisted for more than 10 years with the production of the Fairfield Juried Art Show every November at the Fairfield Community Center. She was an active member at the Solano Athletic Club and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Chadbourne is survived by her sons, David J. Carroll of San Francisco, Stephen F. Carroll of Antelope and James W. Jr. of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Lindsay C. Neasbitt of Pioneer; a brother, Michael E. Bohleber of Waynesville, N.C.; an aunt, Ellen Zulim of Fresno; a sister-in-law, Verne Bohleber of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
