D. Porter Greene was born in Adams Center, N. Y., Nov. 6, 1845 and died at his home in the same village July 7, 1923 at the age of 77 years.
About three years ago he was struck by an automobile while crossing the road in front of his home and sustained severe bruises and a dislocated shoulder. Since that accident he has been in poor health. He had spent the closing hours of the Sabbath sitting on the porch reading and visiting with friends. Upon entering the house about dark he fell dead.
Mr. Green has been a life-long resident of Adams Center. He was the son of James and Eunice Lee Greene. In 1864 he was married to Miss Ann Eliza Coon who died in 1885. He was again married on March 10, 1886 to Miss Nellie Saunders of Adams Center who survives him.
In early life Mr. Greene made a public profession of his faith in Christ and united with the Seventh Day Baptist Church, being baptized and received into church membership May 3, 1862. Thus for more than 61 years he has been continuously a member of the same church.
He is survived by his wife, five children, Mrs. Clark Thomas of Watertown, Mrs. O. H. Maxson, Mrs. Lepha Hovey, and Mrs. Samuel Dibble of Adams Center, and Jay Greene of Belleview. one sister, Mrs. Eudora Greene of Adams Center, and by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from his late home on July 10, his pastor, Rev. L. F. Hurley, officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery at Adams Center. L. F. H.

Nellie Saunders, daughter of Lyman and Loretta Green Saunders, was born in Adams Center, June 24, 1860, and died in Adams Center, December 21, 1942.
She was married to Porter Green of Adams Center in 1886. To them was born a daughter Lora (Mrs. Samuel Dibble), with whom she has resided since the death of her husband. Others who survive are a brother Horace Saunders, three stepdaughters, four grandchildren, a nephew, and nieces.
She had been a member of the Adams Center Seventh Day Baptist Church since 1876. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, and burial took place in the local cemetery. P. S. B.
