Mrs. Ernest Buchanan, 82, Rock Haven, died yesterday in Rock Haven after a long illness.
The former Cassie Gray was born Feb. 10, 1889, in Milton Junction and has lived in the Janesville area the past 45 years. She was married to Ernest Buchanan March 23, 1914, in Rockford. He died April 6, 1939. She was employed at the Knotty Pine Restaurant for more than 20 years, retiring 12 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Jerome Weis, Rt. 5, and Mrs. Eugene Bartingale, Eau Claire; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Archie Sanford, Leamington, Ontario, Canada, Mrs. James Churchill and Miss Josephine Gray, both of Janesville; two brothers, Harry of Janesville and Howard of Stoughton.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Nelson-Schneider Funeral Home, with burial in the Milton Junction Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening.

Ernest A. Buchanan, 51, of 703 Glen street, a Janesville resident for the past 16 years and an employee of the Fisher Body corporation for four years, died at 4 a.m. Thursday in Mercy hospital following an illness of eight weeks.
He was born in Leanington, Canada, Feb. 5, 1880, and was married to Miss Cassie Gray, in Rockford, March 23, 1914. Mr. Buchanan was a plumber by trade. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Leona and Norma, at home; two brothers and one sister in Canada, a sister in England and two sisters in Detroit.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Whaley-Overton funeral home, with the Rev. Hal E. Norton, First Baptist church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday.

Note: I have three different years of birth for Ernest, 1880, 1885 and 1888. I don't know which is correct. His death cert lacked a birth date.
