At Dakota, Wis., Dec. 17, 1899, Varnam G. Hill, in the 75th year of his age.
He was born Oct. 12, 1825, at Alfred, Allegany Co., N. Y. He married twice. His first wife was Levina Cheeseborough, by whom he had five children - one daughter and four sons. He moved to Albion, Wis., in 1845, and to Dakota, Wis., in 1858, where he dwelt until the messenger called him home. His second wife was Mrs. Amy Crandall Green, who still survives him. One son blessed this union. In the year 1870, he made a public profession of faith in Christ, and was baptized by Eld. C. M. Lewis, and became a member of the Dakota Seventh-day Baptist Church. A large number of relatives and friends were present at the funeral service, lamenting that such a useful life must be taken from them. C. S. S.
