Edgerton - Gerhard (Gilly) Barsness, 77, of 508 S. Main St., died unexpectedly yesterday in Memorial Community Hospital after a short illness.
The son of John and Siri Nelson Barsness, he was born July 27, 1892, in the Town of Vermont, Black Earth, Wis. He was married to Alyce Bliven March 15, 1917, in Lodi. An Edgerton resident since 1915, he was a barber by trade and from 1929 until retiring in 1966 he had operated his own shop. He was a member of the Edgerton Methodist Church, secretary of Moose Lodge No. 1125 for 40 years.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne C. Gillette, Edgerton; a son, Rolland, of Madison; three sisters, Mrs. James E. Pledger, Marshall, Mrs. Selena Sutcliffe, Vermillion, S.D., and Mrs. Nelsina Carver, Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Ellingson Funeral Home with burial in Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.

Edgerton - Mrs. Alyce Barsness, 81, of 508 S. Main, died today in Edgerton Hospital after an illness.
Born here on Oct. 31, 1900, the former Alyce Bliven married Gerhard Barsness on March 15, 1917, in Lodi. He died on Oct. 21, 1969.
Mrs. Barsness was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Gillette of Edgerton; a son, Rolland B. of Madison; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bruni-Nygaard-Ward Funeral Home, with burial in Fassett Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or the Edgerton Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
