EDGERTON - Mrs. Alice Bagley Ogden, 93, prominent resident here for many years, died Tuesday afternoon in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Smith, following a long illness.
As president of Service Star Legion, Mrs. Ogden laid the cornerstone for Edgerton Memorial hospital and also gave the dedicatory address. She was a charter member of Service Star and served as president for five years.
Mrs. Ogden was also a member of the First Congregational church and took an active part in its functions. She was a former member of the Ladies society of the church.
One of triplets, Alice Bagley was born June 20, 1858, in Dyersville, Ia. She taught at the Rock River School near Edgerton before her marriage March 24, 1881, to George L. Ogden. He died in 1922.
Mrs. Ogden was a gold star mother, her son, Guy, having been killed in France in World War I. She was also a director of the Red Cross board in Edgerton for several years.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Smith; three sons, Edson, of Kenosha, George, of Milwaukee, and Clyde, of Edgerton; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Harold, in 1905, and Guy, in 1918, and a daughter, Mrs. Carl Kepp, in 1946.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ellingson funeral home, the Rev. L. L. Duerson, of First Congregational church, officiating. Burial will be in Fassett cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
