JANESVILLE - Mrs. Hilda M. Crosby, age 90, formerly of 522 N. Walnut St., passed away early Tues., Oct 22, 1996, at the meadow Park Health Care Center, Clinton, WI, following a long illness. She was born July 1, 1906, in Janesville, the daughter of the late Louis and Martha (Buggs) Goede. She had been a lifelong area resident. On June 7, 1926 she married Leon W. Crosby, in Janesville; he preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1986. Mrs. Crosby has been employed for several years as an aide at Rock Haven until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church, Janesville.
She is survived by 3 sons: Wesley (Nell) Crosby of Janesville, Leonard (Barb) Crosby of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Richard (Pat) Crosby of Jefferson; 3 daughters: Carol (Bob) Turner and Norma (Ray) Bushaw, both of Janesville, and Gloria (Jerry) Higgins of Watertown, WI; 3 sisters: Luella Miner and Eleanore Hanley, both of Janesville, and Esther Hartman of Cedar Rapids, IA; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Goede; and 2 sisters, Margaret Abrams and Helen Knudson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 24, 1996, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul H. Garchow and Rev. Dr. Milan Weerts officiating. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery, Milton. Friends may call Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Whitcomb Funeral Home is assisting her family with arrangements.

Leon W. Crosby, 80, of 522 N. Walnut, Janesville, died Monday in Mercy Hospital after an illness.
Born Aug. 24, 1906, in Winnipeg, Canada, he farmed near Jefferson until about 20 years ago. He moved to Janesville and was employed as an aide at Rock Haven. He married Hilda Goede on June 7, 1926, in Janesville. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Wesley of Janesville, Leonard of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Richard of Jefferson; three daughters, Carol Turner and Norma Bushaw, both of Janesville, and Gloria Higgins of Watertown; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Crosby of Janesville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with burial in Milton Cemetery. Visitation is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Henning Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church.
