ELKHORN - Oren W. "Doc" Babcock, age 85, of Elkhorn, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, following a brief illness. He was the son of Jess W. Babcock and Nina Duncan Babcock. Doc graduated as co-valedictorian of his 1937 Milton Union High School class. He attended Milton College and Palmer Chiropractic College, graduating in 1943. He practiced chiropractic medicine in Elkhorn for 47 years, retiring in 1994. He was an avid golfer. Doc was a highly decorated veteran, having flown 74 combat missions over Germany and Europe in World War II. He is survived by his niece, Ardith Dundulis of Phoenix, AZ; and his nephew, Milton Davis of Buena Park, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess W. Babcock and Nina Duncan Babcock; a sister, Edith Fern Babcock Davis; his first wife, Shirley, in 1988; and his second wife, Corinne, in 2000. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Roselawn Memory Gardens Chapel, Hwy. 67 and Hwy. 50, Lake Geneva, WI. Military rites will follow. The Betts Funeral Home of Elkhorn is handling the arrangements.
