Austa Loreen Stephan Coalwell, 82, went home to her Savior on Mar 15, 1998. She was born in Nortonville, KS on Jul 15, 1915, the daughter of Claude F. & Rosa DeLand Stephan. She was an active member of the Nortonville Seventh Day Baptist Church until she graduated as class salutatorian in 1937. She attended Milton College, WI, on a full scholarship. While attending Milton, she met Gerald E. Coalwell. They married on Aug. 11, 1938. Over the yrs, Austa & Jerry were members of SDB churches in Hammond & Metairie, LA., & in Texarkana, AR. The spent many hours traveling until ill health slowed them down. Since Jan 1997, they have been residents of the Lancombe Nursing Home, LA.
In addition to her husband, Austa is survived by 1 son, Floyd; 1 daughter, Judith "Judi" C. Hand of Picayune, MS; one sister, Lila S. Saunders of Milton, WI., 1 brother, Marvin Stephan of Lawrenceville, KS; 7 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters & numerous nieces & nephews.
Austa's parents; her sister Rosie Bond; & brothers Harry, Melvin, & Wendall all awaited her arrival in that glorious land of her Lord. Heaven is much richer [& more musical, especially with so many Stephans there together] since Austa arrived.
