EDGERTON - Mrs. Archie I. Wentworth, 75, of Rt. 2, Edgerton, died unexpectedly in her home yesterday.
Hazel Emerson was born Sept. 12, 1892, in Utica, the daughter of DeForest and Martha Green Emerson, and taught school in the area for many years. She was married Feb. 15, 1923, to Archie Wentworth and the couple had farmed on the family Century Farm south of Indianford.
She was a member of the Edgerton Congregational Church, an active member of Harmony Camp 2506, Royal Neighbors of America, and a member of Albion Home Benefit Society.
Surviving are her husband; three sisters, Mrs. Melvin Furseth, Edgerton, Mrs. Glenn Atcherson, Janesville, and Mrs. Rachel Brinkman, Greendale.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ellingson Funeral Home where friends may call Wednesday evening. Burial will be in Fassett Cemetery.

EDGERTON - Archie Wentworth, 75, of Rt. 2, Edgerton, lifelong area resident, died yesterday in Memorial Community Hospital after a 2-month illness.
Mr. Wentworth was a well-known breeder of race horses and trained horses on his farm for sale as pacers and trotters on the racing circuit. He was a frequent exhibitor and winning competitor at the Green County and Walworth fairs where horse races are an annual event. For many years he maintained a half-mile racetrack on his farm for use in training horses raised there.
He was born Dec. 24, 1892, on the farm where he spent his entire life. His parents were Irving L. and Eveleen Whitaker Wentworth, member of pioneer Fulton Township families. He was married Feb. 15, 1923, to Hazel Emerson. His wife, who shared his interest in race horses and often assisted in their training, died last May.
He was a graduate of Edgerton High School and Milton College and was a member of the Edgerton Congregational Church and the U. S. Trotting Association.
Only survivors are a sister, Mrs. Cecil Lush, Harvard, Ill., a niece and a nephew.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Ellingson Funeral Home where friends may call tomorrow evening. Burial will be in Fassett Cemetery.
