Hugh Hurley Clement, 73, died Saturday at the Ord Hospital. He was born in Mira Valley on Jan 26, 1890, the youngest child of pioneers, Nathaniel G. and Mary Hurley Clement. He attended school in Dist. 9, Mira Valley, and as a young man worked near Fresno, Calif.
June 11,1910, he was married to Maude Milligan. They farmed in Mira Valley and in 1915 he moved to North Loup where he worked as a carpenter, mechanic and garage man for nearly fifty years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son, his parents, one brother and two sisters. After the death of his wife he lived with his daughter, Ruth.
Survivors are his nine children: Hubert, Guris and Steven of Chula Vista, Calif.; Grant of Grand Island, Doris Marks of New Virginia, Ia.; Molly Bellis, Joan Sheldon and Joan Klug all of MiIlwaukee, Wis.; and Ruth Sample of North Loup. There are 33 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were from the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. David Clarke officiated and music was by the Mira Valley male quartet. Pallbearers were Bob, Paul and Don Studnicka, Gilbert Babcock, Wm. Earnest, Jr., and Gene Pleicher. Burial was in the North Loup Hillside Cemetery with Hastings Pearson in charge.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hugh Clement were held Saturday afternoon from the Seventh-day Baptist church, with Rev. C. W. Buehler officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. George Cox sang Moment by Moment and Abide With Me. with Mrs. Harlon Brennick at the organ.
Pall bearers were Roy Cox, Melvin Williams, Allen Sims, Daryl Earnest, Paul Studnicka and Joe Veleba.
Mrs. Edith Bartz and Mrs. Leslie cared for the many beautiful floral offerings.
Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, with Ashley's Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Maud Milligan Clement, daughter of Edward and Margaret Milligan, was born in Greeley County, Nebr., April 6, 1887. She passed away at her home in North Loup, Nebr., December 16, 1956, at the age of 69 years, eight months and six days. She had been in failing health.
Her entire life was spent in this community except for one year in Milton, Wis. In young womanhood she united with the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist church and this has been her church home throughout her life.
On June 11, 1910 she was married to Hugh Clement by Rev. Williamson of the Mira Valley Presbyterian church. To them were born ten children nine of whom are living.
Surviving are her husband, her nine children, Hubert of Scott City, Kan., Doris Marks, Garis and Stephen, all of Des Moines, Iowa, Molly Bellas, Jean Sheldon and Joan Klug, all of Milwaukee, Grant of Scotia and Ruth Smith of North Loup. There are twenty-eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six sisters, Myrtle Milligan, of North Loup, Mrs. Dora Ward of Ericson, Mrs. Lenore Nichols of Pleasanton, Mrs. Cecil Ferguson of Helena, Mont., Mrs. Nina Thompson of Raymond, Nebr., and Mrs. Fern Parks of Portland, Ore., and five brothers, John and Don of North Loup, George, Rex and Lynn of Long Beach, Calif.
