John Gregoire, 54, of 2703 Laurel Ave., Janesville, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville.
He was born July 27, 1943, in Edgerton, the son of Glen and Hannah Gregoire, and spent his entire life in this area. He worked at General Motors, Janesville and had served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Linda Salzwedel Aug. 17, 1968. He belonged to UAW Local #95.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Janesville; two sons, Troy (Kari) of Janesville and Glen of Janesville; his mother, Hannah Smith of Janesville; three sisters, Patty Griffin of Milton, Ruth Gregoire of Janesville, Hope (Sterling) Woods of Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Trevor and Allison. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Jean Decker.
Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Linda K. Gregoire, 57, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Janesville on Jan. 7, 1951, the daughter of Arthur and Evelyn (Dohs) Salzwedel. Linda attended Janesville High School and married her soul mate, John W. Gregoire, in Janesville on Aug. 17, 1967. He predeceased her on Sept. 3, 1997. Over the years Linda has worked at Rollin' Pin Bakery and Goodwill Industries. Even though Linda struggled over the years from the loss of her husband, family was very important to her. She took care of her mother-in-law for many years and also enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren. Linda and her sisters always spent their birthdays together, catching up on family news and having a few good laughs. She also was a very good cook, who made the best lasagna, that her family will miss.
She is survived by her two sons, Troy (Kari) Gregoire and their two children, Trevor and Allison of Janesville, and Glen (Tracy) Gregoire and their two children, Megan and Dylan of Janesville; her parents, Arthur and Evelyn Salzwedel of Fort Atkinson; two brothers, Jim (Janet) Salzwedel of Fort Atkinson and John (Cindy) Salzwedel of Whitewater; two sisters, Debra (Walter) Ruud of Janesville and Penny (Dave) Pierce of Janesville; two half-brothers, Martin and Clifford Haney; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Hannah Smith; and half-brother, Robert Haney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Whitcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton, 828 S. Janesville St., with Rev. Patrick Schultz officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
