EVANSVILLE - Charles Edwin Balch, age 74, of 213 Maple St., died Thurs., Nov 3, 1988 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born Dec. 20, 1913 in Milton, the son of William and Alice Miller Balch. He married Margaret Whan Oct 9, 1938. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Evansville. He had been an Evansville area resident since 1927, where he was employed by Pruden Products; he worked for the City of Evansville from 1967 until he retired in 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of Evansville; 2 sons, Robert (Veronica) of Sun Prairie and William of Evansville; a daughter, Jean Balch of Evansville; 2 grandchildren, Trisha and Robert; 3 sisters: Nora Kutz of Fort Atkinson, Elizabeth Cole of Evansville and Edith Haskins of Oregon. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sun., Nov. 6, at Evansville First Baptist Church, Rev. William Walker officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sat. at Ward Funeral Home, Evansville.

  EVANSVILLE - Margaret Lois Balch, age 75, of 19 W. Main St., died Mon., May 25, 1992, at Mercy Hospital.   She was born April 19, 1917, the daughter of William and Doris Whan.   Margaret married Charles E. Balch in Oct. 1938; he preceded her in death in Nov. 1988.   She was a lifelong Evansville area resident.   Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church.   She was active in the Senior Citizens Group and was a volunteer at the Evansville Manor.
  She is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Veronica) of Sun Prairie and William of Evansville; 1 daughter, Jean Balch of Evansville; a brother, William (Anna) Whan of Arizona; 2 sisters, Catherine (Hilbert) Fenrick and Lillian Servaas, both of Janesville; 2 grandchildren, Trisha and Robert Balch.   She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers.
  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thurs., May 28 at the First Baptist Church, Evansville, Rev. Michael Fahrer officiating.   Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Ward Funeral Home, Evansville.
