'Alden (MN) Advance,' 22 Mar 1898:
Died at Albert Lea, Minnesota, Saturday, March 12, 1898, Mrs. Lydia BURDICK, aged 70 years, 5 months and 14 days. Her aged companion, John A. BURDICK, one of the pioneers and for many years a resident of Alden township, is very ill and will probably not long survive her. Five daughters of the family of 13 children still live. Hers was a useful and beautiful life, being characterized by immoving faith and trust in God; meekness and gentleness of disposition and patience and submission in suffering and afflictions, of which she endured much for several years before her death. The funeral was conducted by Elder Sweasey of Albert Lea. A service was held at the home, then the remains were brought to Alden for interment in the family lot in the cemetery here, where four of her children are buried. The burial was preceded by a service in the M.E. Church.
